After using the MS2 PRO for around two months, NorbReviews concludes that its biggest strength is experimentation. HIDIZS provided his review unit for an honest opinion without input into the review, and Norb believes the MS2 PRO particularly suits newcomers discovering what kind of IEM tuning they enjoy.
More Than One Way to Listen
The three filters give Norb distinct options. Red is his preferred all-rounder and works well across different music. Black provides a warmer, more relaxed character that he likes for indie, folk and older rock, while white becomes brighter and works particularly well for classical music.
White is generally too sharp for Norb’s ears, however. He emphasizes that this is personal preference rather than something every listener will experience.
Ear tips add another layer. Wide-bore tips increase treble, while narrow-bore tips move the presentation toward more bass. HIDIZS also supplied Sea Anemone tips, which Norb used for most of his testing and found provided better isolation than the stock options.
Bass Has Real Physical Presence
Norb does not agree with describing the bass as “thunderous,” but he is impressed by its extension into the sub-bass. More importantly for his preferences, the MS2 PRO produces bass he can physically feel rather than simply hear.
Mids and treble depend heavily on configuration. Black creates a warmer, more relaxed timbre, while red and white sound cleaner and more open as treble presence increases.
Technicalities Stay Grounded
Instrument separation, imaging and response speed perform about as Norb expects at this price. He does not find the response exceptionally fast or tight, but neither does it become sloppy or muddy.
The stage is not particularly open and changes with tuning. Warmer combinations feel more intimate, while brighter setups open the presentation somewhat. At very low volume, he also notices information below the mid-bass largely disappearing, which matters more for music than spoken content.
Comfortable Despite Some Compromises
Norb likes the size, comfort and appearance, although the metal shells feel cold and somewhat heavy. The cable could be sturdier and tangles more than he would like, though it does not kink.
Overall Assessment
NorbReviews likes the MS2 PRO most as a tool for discovering personal sound preferences without relying on EQ or purchasing several IEMs. He sees it as especially useful for newcomers, earbud users moving into IEMs and headphone listeners making the same transition.
He acknowledges that arguably better-performing IEMs exist around its stated $99 price, but those alternatives may not provide the same tuning flexibility. Listeners wanting exceptional technical performance or a permanently fixed signature may find other options more suitable. For experimentation, flexibility and enjoyable bass, however, Norb considers the MS2 PRO a compelling starting point.
